Cook ended up playing the lead in a Final Destination movie, so.. This definitely overstays it's welcome, with a runtime of nearly 2 hours. No one ever asked for a crappy s horror movie to be 2 hours long. No one wanted that. AJ Cook stars as Molly, our cynical, goth who is recovering from a past trauma in which her friends were all murdered and she was the only survivor. She's now studying serial killers and members of her study group are dropping one by one.
All of the murders are committed in a fashion that copycats Jack the Ripper slayings. The concept is fine but, honestly, Jack the Ripper is boring and never executed properly. His murders were vicious and brutal and the kills here are largely off-screen and edited…. Trying to cash in on the teen slasher trend of the time, it isn't too bad, but isn't as good as others in the overpopulated genre.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth. Cook is in it but I was expecting next to nothing from this, and while it was particularly good, I still had a good time with it.
John Eyres, who gave us the wild Project Shadowchaser series, turned in this post-Scream slasher from Canada that pits a bunch of serial killer obsessed students against a modern day Jack the Ripper.
